Grand Canyon National park’s natural and cultural landmarks are world-renowned. But how did this iconic park become so internationally visible? Dr. Yolonda Youngs returns to Tucson to share insights and highlights from her recent book, Framing Nature: The Creation of an American Icon at the Grand Canyon (2024). Learn how the park’s environment has changed over 150 years and the importance of preserving and protecting this special place. Dr. Youngs is a Professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), and was one of WNP’s featured authors at the 2025 Tucson Festival of Books. Book signing will follow the talk. The book, complete with stunning photographs and historic maps of the Grand Canyon and Colorado River is available for purchase at The National Park Store. Registration required. Space is limited to 60 registrants.
